The Smokey Bear Association will be holding a national Smokey Bear cake decorating contest that is open to Smokey Bear fans of all ages. The contest will run from January 1 until the day of judging, April 23, 2014.
HOW IT WORKS: The Smokey Bear Association invites you to submit original photographs of a cake, cookie or dessert you have made honoring Smokey Bears 70th birthday or Smokey’s 70 years of service.
Rules and Regulations
This competition is open to all cake decorators (beginners to masters), as well as culinary and cake decorating students. Divisions are:
- Youth, ages 12-17; ages 6-12,
- Adult Non-Professionals – decorators who primarily decorate cakes as a hobby,
- Adult Advanced/professional – those who sell their cakes and/or teach cake decorating.
Please send via email one photo of the finished product, one photo of the cake making process and a photo of the persons who help create and bake the cake. Cakes can also be entered in the contest in person finished cakes will be accepted on April 23 at the Des Chutes Historical Museum in Bend, Oregon the day of the judging.
Layer cakes, tiered/stacked cakes or carved (3D) cakes will be accepted. Tiered cakes should have a minimum of three inches in height between tiers. All sculpted cake entries must be made in real cake. No dummies may be used for sculpted cakes. Sculpted cakes and all decorations must be edible. Only cake boards and any necessary supports are allowed for inedible items. 60% of your entry must be real cake.
Entries may be photographed and used by the Smokey Bear Association; all received photos become the property of the Smokey Bear Association. All entries will be used on the club’s website, Facebook pages, and SBA newsletter.
